When Surface Solutions’ expert team of flooring specialists begin surface preparation in a commercial kitchen, removing quarry tile to install a new UCRETE® HF flooring system, the crew finds deteriorating concrete and moldy walls under and around the existing floor, due to trapped water over time.

Our team quickly springs into action, turning a potentially time-consuming and expensive circumstance for our client into a successful renovation and new flooring installation. We remove all the moldy materials and sanitize the entire 2,500 square foot area, installing new 2×4 studs and replacing walls with DUROCK® cement board. Moisture and mold resistant, DUROCK cement board is made by USG, North America’s leading producer of wallboard for over 100 years.

Then, we complete the original flooring job, hanging 200 L’ of 6″ cove base with UCRETE® WR, a durable polyurethane and concrete additive used to form cove bases and renovate walls that withstand heavy traffic, harsh chemicals and fluctuating temperatures much better than a simple concrete surface. Finally, we trowel the surface with UCRETE® HF, a three-part concrete coating treatment and flooring system that is free of solvents, withstands extreme temperature fluctuations and is resistant to abrasion and impact.

From start to finish, this renovation takes only six days to complete.

Instead of hiring more contractors, Surface Solutions was able to turnkey this entire process, rebuilding the walls and subflooring in addition to installing a new flooring system.
