Is It Time to Update Your Industrial Floors?
Depending on the environment, some of our industrial flooring options can stand up to heavy abuse for decades. In some cases, your floors may need periodic updates and maintenance.
First, consider the type of industrial floors you have:
Epoxy
- Wear resistant in high-traffic areas
- Seamless and easy to clean
- Withstands exposure to some chemicals and cleaning materials
Urethane Concrete
- Thermal shock resistant; designed to withstand extreme temperatures
- Impact resistant; built to withstand heavy equipment and vehicle traffic, including tractor-trailers and tankers
- Stain and chemical-resistant; antimicrobial and easy to clean
Your unique facility environment and usage determine how long your industrial floors will last. So how do you know when it’s time for new flooring? Use this checklist to inspect your floors.
Industrial Flooring Checklist
- Diminishing slip resistance: Slip-resistant coating, flakes, and even coarse sand additives in your flooring formula will eventually wear away, and your surfaces might not provide as much friction against slipping.
- Cracks or pitting: Weather, temperature fluctuations, and wear from acids and other corrosive substances may show in the form of pitting or wear on your surfaces.
- Standing water, moisture, condensation: If moisture is present beneath your foundation, you might begin to see signs of moisture at the surface.
- Dull spots/discoloration: Over time, UV discoloration might occur, and if you have a glossy topcoat, it might begin to show signs of wear.
- Accumulating debris or residue: Over time, antimicrobial additives in your flooring diminish in strength, which can lead to an increased accumulation of residue and debris, especially in your coves and corners. Your floors might also become more difficult to clean.
