This project gives us a chance to show our versatility. We not only protect concrete floors but also concrete curbing, with the right products and techniques needed to resolve our customer’s curbing issue.

Surface Solutions is called in to protect a chemical plant’s concrete curbing in Cincinnati, Ohio. Concrete curbing is an essential part of a chemical processing facility’s secondary containment system. Using Ucrete RG, a durable polyurethane concrete additive used to form cove bases and renovate walls, our expert crew creates a protective wrap for 340 linear feet of 8-inch by 8-inch by 8-inch curbing in just one day. The team trowel-applies a 45-degree 2-inch cant cove to keep chemicals and wash-down water from pooling in corners between the curb and floor. Because of its high resin content, Ucrete RG needs no additional sealer coat to help prevent future erosion.

Preferred Technology for Industrial Flooring

Ucrete is fast becoming the preferred technology for industrial floors and concrete curbing. Why? Ucrete is engineered as a superior alternative to acid brick, quarry tile and coatings, with unequalled resistance to physical abuse, moisture, a wide range of aggressive chemicals and bacterial growth. It is outperforming traditional epoxy flooring surfaces in both impact resistance from heavy traffic and ability to withstand thermal shock – at a comparable price. It also withstands heavy traffic, harsh chemicals and fluctuating temperatures much better than a conventional concrete surface. It is a powerful layer of protection for both new and existing concrete surfaces resistant to wear over time.

All chemical labs and processing facilities are required to have a secondary containment system. Concrete curbing restricts dangerous spills and protects workers from hazardous conditions. Protecting curbs before erosion sets in is critical.

Specially designed for vertical applications, Surface Solutions uses Ucrete RG for curbing and cant cove applications to provide a layer of protection between the old and new surface. Ucrete RG also expands and contracts along with the substrate, which helps curbing withstand temperature fluctuations.
