According to Occupational Safety and Health Administration regulations, an employer must provide, and ensure each employee uses, a safe means of access and egress to and from walking-working surfaces.

Headquartered in Saline, Michigan, DAVCO Technology manufactures diesel-powered truck fuel-heater/water separators, filter systems, automatic oil replenishment systems, diesel engine priming tools and more designed for tough commercial use such as on and off-highway, construction, military and marine applications.

To improve the safety of the facility to meet OSHA standards, Surface Solutions’ industrial flooring experts install a two-coat epoxy surface coating in gray and 1,200 L’ of 4-inch yellow line striping to define walk and aisle ways for workers. The entire project is completed in two days, to the delight of DAVCO facilities managers, who appreciate the efficiency and professionalism our team always displays during any installation.

OSHA Guidelines for Safety Line Striping

OSHA guidelines state that safety lines must clearly define a specific area with continuous, dotted or squared floor striping. The width of the stripe for both sides of an aisle must be between two and six inches wide and at least four feet in length. OSHA does not specify safety line color for any type of work and walkway area; however, the chosen colors must remain consistent throughout the facility.to be utilized for different sections.

Commonly Used Safety Line Colors & Purposes

  • Yellow – Denotes areas of caution
  • Red – Denotes locations for fire equipment or hazard. OSHA states you cannot use red to represent two safety warnings in the same space
  • White – Denotes pathways that guide people around equipment and storage areas
  • Orange – Denotes waiting area for materials needing further inspection
